Comments about the Seminars:
Guidelines for hosting a UTI Seminar:
What participants have to say about the seminars:
Exceptional. I really admire your love and respect for
your students & vice versa. You are all exceptional people and I am so glad I was able
to attend. I'm sure your teachings will expand and your influence will allow your
organization to grow.
Inst. G.Baylor
Overall, the Seminar was excellent. A good mix of
materials, from the patterns to the endurance.
Inst. S.Dundas
I thought the seminar was right on target. The
fundamentals, patterns, one-step and sparring were great.
Inst. T.Westerlund
I think you are very nice and did a good job.
Chris Baylor, age 8
On balance, I have never learned so much in such a
short period of time in my life. After seeing the skill level of yourself, it would be a
privilege to have my name associated with your organization.
Senior Inst. R. Duncan
I wish it was longer. Worth every dime.
Inst.Bobby Scott
Everything ran very smooth from one technique to the
other. Everything was covered in great detail.
Inst. D. Blush
Overall I think the seminar went wonderfully. You
stayed close to the time frame set out and the intensity was constant. The variety of
activities was excellent.
Chief Instructor N. Doerksen
I thought the seminar was excellent and I agree that
you should have one once or twice a year. Showing how to teach the
techniques was great and I'm sure we all benefited.
Chief Instructor A.Glenn Fox
The seminar we hosted back in May was exceptional.
Master Kopperud is a very comprehensive instructor and radiates TaeKwon-Do everywhere he
is at. The way Master Kopperud handled the seminar format was excellent. I knew after the
seminar was over that I was very lucky to be part of this organization.
Senior Instructor Danny C. Morgan

PRESIDENT'S SEMINAR GUIDELINES:
A: The host UTI instructor/master shall propose, in writing, a date for a President's Seminar for his/her organization. The host UTI instructor shall include the location of the nearest international airport (when appropriate) for the purpose of the travel expense quote. UTI will then respond with an affirmative including the travel expense quote (airfare and/or mileage), or with a negative including an explanation and/or alternative date(s) suggestions. UTI will also include further details regarding seminar fees, expenses and details. All President's Seminars are based on instruction provided by the UTI President and one UTI Black-Belt assistant.
1. TRAVEL:
UTI will quote the cost of travel, for two ( UTI President + One Assistant ), (airfare and/or mileage) for the proposed seminar trip.
NOTE: * Airfare within Canada will
include the cost of
all flights, for two (economy, hospitality or best rate),
insurance, associated fees, etc. plus 15%.
* International airfare will include the cost of
all flights, for two (economy, hospitality or best rate)
insurance, associated fees, etc. plus 25%
NOTE: Over-Seas airfare is reduced considerably (between 50% and 80%)
when a trip is seven days or more. It is much more economical for the
"host"
to accommodate a seven day trip.
The host UTI instructor is responsible for all travel expenses associated with
the UTI President and one UTI Black-Belt assistant, and is also responsible for
all local travel
and transportation. The host UTI instructor shall submit to UTI headquarters, the
transportation cost in full no later than ninety days prior to the seminar date. UTI will
send to the host UTI instructor an itinerary of the president's travel plans. In addition,
further information regarding seminar details will be included. Airfare, when applicable,
will represent the most economical rate available and mileage will be based on .35 cents
per kilometer when applicable. The travel expense quote will at times, and depending on
the seminar format, be based on two persons (the president and one assistant) or one
person (the president alone).
2. ACCOMMODATION: First Class accommodation will be provided by the host UTI instructor for the president ( and one UTI Black-Belt assistant ) as agreed upon by both parties. This will vary from situation to situation and should be prearranged. Meals for the President and one UTI Assistant are the responsibility of the host UTI instructor (pre-arranged "free" days excluded). The host UTI instructor will provide for meals and/or funds for meals at the following rate: breakfast $12.00, lunch $15.00, dinner $20.00 for each full or half day. President's and UTI Assistant's meals are commonly charged to the hotel. Fees in U.S.Dollars.
3. FACILITY / EQUIPMENT / SUPPLIES: The host UTI instructor is responsible for adequate facilities for the activities of the proposed event. In addition, the host UTI instructor will provide any equipment and supplies necessary for any examinations, demonstrations, etc. For example, breaking boards, bricks, blocks, mats, targets, shields, etc. are the responsibility of the host UTI instructor. Whenever possible, the host UTI instructor should provide a dojang or facility with a suspended wooden floor (ie: gym) for "in-uniform" activities. The suitability and safety of the facility and equipment are the responsibility of the host UTI instructor.
4. ETIQUETTE / PROTOCOL: Rank certificate presentations can be prearranged and included in the activities. In the event any examination included in the activities is not successful there will be no additional charge for any re-examination and/or certification by UTI. UTI will replace and re-date the rank certificate for presentation at a later time (min.30 days) by the host UTI instructor after the successful completion of the re-examination.
UTI often presents the host instructor with a gift and/or memento pertaining to his/her involvement in TaeKwon-Do and/or the event. Host organizations often present the president with the same.
